Saying goodbye to an addiction

The World Cup is over, Lance Armstrong is too far back to win the Tour de France, and it’s summer. Nothing for it but to cancel my cable, get writing, and get out there. I’ve lived without television before and was much the better for it so I’ve decided to simplify my life and remove what is essentially a narcotic from my system. It won’t be completely cold turkey, however, as I do have the internet and Netflix, but they feel more controllable.

Wish me luck!

Thanks, I’ll need it. I’m also ramping up my healthy eating so it’s going to be a big summer for change.

      Re: Bravo

There are a lot of shows I’ll miss, but I am going to focus on what I’m going to gain. I haven’t always been great at doing that, but it’s long past time I learned how.

    Good Luck

You are a more determined soul than I. Granted, despite having television (dish) I don’t actually watch much anymore…so maybe I’m part way there already?

      Re: Good Luck

Sounds like you’re doing quite well yourself. I’m just taking it day by day, making better small choices in the hopes that they all add up to big positive changes. It’s really all any of us can do. Once you stop looking at the top of the mountain and focus on the next few steps there’s a clarity there that I haven’t always had. I’m guessing some philosopher has already figured this out before me, but it feels like something you have to learn on your own if it’s going to be part of your life.

      Cheers,

      Chris
