Snow day in the Big Apple!

Now this is more like it! Another few weeks of this would be great.

It’s not often we get snow like this in New York City. I resisted the urge to go out and wander for as long as I could, but the snow called to me like the cool, seductive vixen she is and my primal urges took over. Before I knew it I was outside and transported back in time to that Canadian kid standing on a drift that seemed as tall as Everest, whooping with glee as the radio announced that school had been canceled because of the snow.

You’d better believe hot chocolate and story time are happening tonight.

I was that Canadian kid who held up pictures of palm trees and whined, “Mom, can we go to Hawaii?” when everyone else was lacing their skates.

I did like missing school, though.

The cold weather gene must have skipped you 🙂 My reaction on arriving at a beach is usually now what? If there’s stuff to do I’m ok, but I never got the appeal of just laying there sunning oneself. You’re hot, you’re sweaty, and you’re trying to sleep in the middle of the day in public…in sand…nope, I clearly lack the hot weather gene.

I haven’t been a fan of snow for years (but I am a fan of hot chocolate; yum). Though the day it snowed back in January here where I’m at I actually did enjoy it this time. Took my old dog out into the yard and played chase/attempted to play some disc.

If I was back in Canada right now I might not be waxing quite so poetically about snow, but since I moved south to the US of A I haven’t seen a lot of snow and I do miss it. I still find time for hot chocolate though.

We got 3 or 4 inches last night and let’s face it when the South gets snow the rednecks lose it just a little bit. It was pretty though and my 8 month old Shepard loved it.
