Formula One roars again, and top ten movies

I watch very little in the way of sports on television, save for big events like the Olympics, World Cup, Super Bowl commercials, and F1. Tomorrow morning (my time) the first race of the F1 season gets underway from sunny Bahrain, officially known as the Kingdom of Bahrain which I found out means Two Seas. It’s fitting that the race is in the Middle East as I’ve been re-watching Lawrence of Arabia. Now that’s epic with a capital E. Definitely one of my top ten movies of all time…so far. My top ten goes something like this, in no particular order:

The Godfather 1
The Godfather 2
Star Wars (whatever they call the 1977 one)
LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring (I loved all three, but this was the best)
Lawrence of Arabia
Casablanca
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Apocalypse Now
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Toy Story (although I’d be equally happy with WALL*E)

I can’t believe I left out:

Aliens
Goodfellas
Dr. Strangelove
The Longest Day
The Green Mile
Full Metal Jacket
The Right Stuff

Yeah, the Olympics is the only sports TV I willingly watch. I haven’t watched a team sport on TV since I was big enough to resist being dragged (literally).

My top ten movies, no particular order:

    Galaxy Quest
    Abyss
    Serenity
    Empire Strikes Back
    Batman Begins
    The Incredibles
    Indiana Jones III
    Star Trek IV
    The Life of Brian
    Casablanca

With honorable mention to movies with John Cusack, Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock (she made two good movies before the shlock happened), and Arnold Swartzawhatever, since they would fill up the next slots.

Empire and The Incredibles are two that I could easily add to my extended list. The Life of Brian, too, although the Holy Grail is my all time favorite Monty Python movie. Oh, and speaking of Keanu, definitely the first Matrix, same goes with Arnold and the first Terminator.

My little brother used to be able to quote the entire MP: Holy Grail movie. He has a comic gift himself, so was almost as funny as the movie.

Ooh, like your movie list and extras! And yeah, the Winter Olympics are the one time I wish I actually had tv.

No tv! Good for you! I’ve managed to survive a year at a time without tv a few times, but eventually I break down and sign up again. It’s starting to feel like one of those times to cut the ties and free my mind.
